Happy 2nd Birthday Ava
What a great day....As I sit here with 15 more minutes of Ava's 2nd birthday, I am just so grateful and delighted at the day. Just 24 hours ago, I was sitting in this same spot (watching Sofia & Ava sleep) counting down the minutes until it turned midnight and I could be the first one to kiss Ava on her birthday. Now, I am reminiscing about the wonderful day it was. We all slept in since we knew it was going to be a long day. As soon as Sofia and Ava woke up, the first words said were from big sister: "Group Hug!" and so that set the wonderful tone for the rest of the day. As always, it was kind of hectic getting everything set up: buying last minute things, making sure my mom had everything she needed to set up all of the food she prepared, doing last minute clean ups. But in the end, everything (almost everything) went smoothly. Only one glitch in the day, and as I called my Gina to have her say two words to me "It's Okay"..I realized yes, It IS okay. The cake I ordered for Ava was not the color I thought I was ordering....Big whoop! If that was going to be the biggest problem of the day, consider myself lucky. And sure enough...it was the only glitch....every thing else went smoothly. The kids looked darling in their cowboy hats and badges, we had a great rendition of "Happy Birthday" by all of the guests, Ava actually blew out her candles (we had been practicing), she received a multitude of beautiful dresses as gifts, the food was just right (not too much, not too little), and I was able to, I hope, talk to almost everyone who came... The jumpy was a smashing success. After most of the guests had gone, I was able to actually sit down (I was wearing wedges all day, because my husband says I don't know how to walk correctly in flip flops.) I love the end of parties when I get to talk for long periods of time to my friends. And thanks to one of my best friends Jenny, I was re-inspired to continue to blog and to document, document, document everything. I've come to the conclusion that I will not be the paper scrapboker that I wanted to be, and maybe not even the digital scrapbooker that I wanted to be, but blogging...now that's more my speed. It's portable, I can do it virtually at any computer with internet; it's quick & easy (me likey that!); and it's a perfect outlet to celebrate, vent, memorialize and share life. Happy Birthday Ava, I love you and your sister more than words can say!
