Won't you be my neighbor?

In an effort to do my part, I joined the Board of Directors of my homeowner's association about a year ago.  Since it is a relatively new community, participation is very low.  Last night we had our annual meeting and in order to establish quorum, we needed ballots from 21 of 82 homeowners...we were about 9 short so I pounded the pavement and started knocking on the doors of my neighbors that live on my street.  What a shocker.  I met some very cool people, I couldn't believe that I have lived in my home for four years and haven't met some of these people.  One neighbor is a partner in Panera Bread and when I told her that Sofia and Ava love their egg soufflés she said, "Oh honey..I'll take care of you!"  Another neighbor is this lovely couple exactly our age!  And another family I met had kids the same age as Sofia and Ava.  She and I hit it off instantly because we started talking about schools.  She handed me her business card...Hi....Qualcomm!  And directly across the street is a new neighbor that I always wave to in the morning but never officially met until yesterday.  I tell you what...I'm missing out on a lot by being such a hermit.  I need to put on my Miss Congeniality banner and start a social committee in my neighborhood!
