Sofia has gotten so much of the attention lately with her 5th birthday and first day of Kindergarten, so I thought I'd give an update on her little sister.
At two years and three months, Ava is doing so much. She is speaking a lot, typically saying everything that Sofia has just said. Thanks to Dora, she is counting in Spanish up to ten, she is also singing a lot of songs that she hears...this morning I heard her trying to sing "...tell me how am I supposed to breathe with no air...?" I think it's a Rhianna song, but it was on their Kidz Bop CD. She laughs a lot, and walks up to other kids and waves hello and tries to hug them. She still naps in the day, typically about two hours. And since it is still summer, she still refuses to wear anything but a dress. I catch her walking around in my high heels all the time. Her legs are darker than Jay's right now because she has gotten so much sun from playing in the sandbox outside. She eats almost everything you put in front of her, often wanting to eat what we are eating. The other day she ate the end of my eel hand roll. She and Sofia still fight over the tofu in our miso soups (why don't they put more in?). Although Ava idolizes Sofia, she also is Sofia's biggest antagonizer and often is the one that wrestles Sofia to the ground if she's upset.
When we drop off Sofia at school though, I see her looking out the window longingly and saying, "bye Sofi." When they haven't seen each other in awhile (a few hours), they'll run towards each other and hug as if they haven't seen each other in a year. Right now they are sleeping together in the full sized bed in their room. Her favorite book to read at night is Wow Wow Wubzy, and her favorite thing to watch on tv is Dora the Explorer.
But one thing that is not new....her devotion to Doggie! She has him (I think it's a boy, but the other day, she put ballet slippers on him, so who knows) with her all the time. We have to wash him when she sleeps, and I am still so paranoid that we are going to lose him. We tried to bring in a replacement, and she played with him for a half a day, but when she found the original Doggie in my purse, the sheer joy on her face made me realize that there will be no replacement for him.
Love my girl!

Not a Rhianna song, but American Idol winner 2007, Jordin Sparks! How can you not know that Joce! You're like American Idol fan #1...from San Marcos... haha.
I'm glad you posted something about Ava too... It was starting to feel like a Jessica Simpson versus Ashlee Simpson thing. :)
i'm loving the update. and what great pics you took!
Ava is too cute! The girls together are so funny. I always love watching them because I don't have a blood related "sis", instead I got Mark ( I guess that's the best God could do ; ) Anyhow, will always love my little brother... but I live vicariously through the girls...
Thanks for the update Joce!
