Project Life - the app

Can't believe there's an app for that! Long gone are the days I could actually play with paper and scrapbook. I was never really consistent with it, but I learned not to feel guilty about it because whatever i could do was good enough. I really took a liking to the Project Life concept because I could not only document, but it also was a means for filing away things I wanted to keep (ticket stubs, the girls artwork, memorabilia). But  yet there is still a pile of papers that have yet to be input into an album. Could it be that now the next step will be to snap a photo of the memorabilia and upload to a digital scrapbook? Well let's see.....

What's happened the past 639 days?

Chain reaction? A reason for it? What led me back here after a 639 day hiatus from my blog which I looked at today with such fondness as I re-read past posts, fawned over old photos and just reveled in the memories captured, words written, feelings felt.

Chain of events: Browsing Internet, thought about how to increase my real estate business, realized I need to build a basic website, thought about my hash tag I've been using #javawithjoce, registered that domain name, thought about my blog, wanted to re-visit it and here I am....

Did 180 weeks of Instagram kill my blog? Perhaps. Man, what memories have I forgotten by not logging them into my online diary?!

Look how Facebook and IG have prime real estate on my phone and poor little Blogger is lost in a folder. Looks like I am going to have to put her back in the spotlight!

Week in the Life.

I may never get to the scrapbook portion, but I do love Ali Edwards "Week in the Life" project that she does every year. I remember last year around this time doing it, and it was fun! How wonderful to be reminded about that feeling. I'm going to go ahead and cut myself some slack and accept the fact that blogging it is better than nothing.

So I'll give it a go.....

more December Daily....

Dec. 6th: We went to the San Marcos Craft Fair and the girls had a great time making ornaments, decorating cookies and getting their faces painted.
Later that night, we had a few people over to watch the Pacquio fight. Ava kept covering her eyes because everyone was screaming with excitement and she didn't like seeing all the punches.

Dec. 7th: Riz invited us to Dree's birthday party at "It's all about the girl"...a very cute place in Point Loma where the girls get their hair, nails and make up done and afterwards put on a show. It was Dree, Natalie, another friend of theirs and Sofia (Sofia was the youngest). They all got to choose the "look" they wanted, and the three older girls chose to be Hula Girls...Sofia chose to be a Rock Star! Since it was a Sunday evening, the girls had the place to themselves and had a blast. What a great idea! I laughed so hard when the girls sang one of Sofia's songs "Who Knew" by Pink....whenever the part that goes..."if someone said three years from now...." came on, Sofia would scream it at the top of her lungs! I captured a very dark mpeg of it.

Dec. 8th: Sofia was STUDENT OF THE DAY!!!! All of the kids drew a picture of her for her book that she took home, and since she still had her hair done from the night before, all of the pictures were all so vivid!

Dec. 9th: Support T.O.E.S. evening at Barnes and Noble. We went to buy some Christmas Presents and part of the proceeds went to Sofia's School.

Dec. 10th: Very quiet day.

Dec. 11th: Just remember the sound of the girls laughing their heads off as we were trying to wind down at the end of the day....always remember this....
Dec 12th: Carrie +1 is in town for the holidays, so while Sofia was in school, Ava and I went to Fashion Valley to meet with her...we were surprised to be greeted by Carrie as well as her 3 month old nephew Max.

And later that night our next door neighboors invited us over for some holiday sprit(s), good thing we live so close...the girls had a great time decorating cookies, playing dress up and putting on a puppet show. I love this time of year!!!!

December Daily

I am so thrilled to be working on my December Daily album, inspired by Ali Edwards. It will be so fun paying extra close attention each day of this month to the things that make this time of year so wonderful. As I am still a novice scrapbooker, you'll want to keep an eye out for Jenny & Abby's albums...but in the meantime, here's my start:

This is the cover of my book. I think I need to laminate it soon because the glitter on my letters is slowly falling off....

My opening page. The phrase is "borrowed" from the Starbucks marketing campaign going on right now. I was going to write a blurb about the project itself...but I think I like its simplicity as its own page...hopefully the message says it all.

Day 1: Another marketing piece from my favorite Starbucks.

**Just created a slideshow to add my pages to as I make them...Really feel dwarfed by Ali Edwards' album, but oh well....

Geek Girl

I hadn't looked at her blog in awhile, but I felt like seeing what was up with Jessica Sprague, the digital scrapbooking guru....and the post that popped up was "A Windows Girl Goes Mac: Episode 1".... I felt like I was reading my own thoughts...I was cracking up....so much so that I left a comment...

I was an "I'll never switch to a MAC" girl...since my husband is an IT guy, we were an anti-MAC house....but can I tell you, I'm a convert! I bought myself a MAC for Christmas and was given the classes at the MAC store as a gift..which really helped and only $99 for the year...great deal. I use my PC for work, but I really am enjoying the MAC journey...one thing that I am longing for on my MAC....PICASA!!!! I keep reading blogs that it is coming soon...not soon enough. I've been asking all the computer geeks if I should invest in Crossover to be able to run PC programs on my MAC (well...just Picasa)...still debating...

my first mini album...

I actually finished a mini album!!! Jenny and Ali Edwards reminded me not to make it more complicated than it needs to be. The cork embellishment on the front is a wine label that was purchased at a wine store in Old Montreal called 12 en cave. A few collages printed at Costco, journaling cards, some stickers here and there, and all of the little memorabilia I collected on my trip completed the album. This is a moment to remember, because I have yet to finish any scrapbook album I've ever started. Yeah Minis!

Jay is so silly...
